We recently completed this bespoke iroko door, frame and glass set for a traditional property.
The aim was to create a new entrance that suited the character of the house, while giving the customer something completely unique.
Made to suit the property
The entrance was made to measure, including the door, frame, side panels and large arched section above the door.
With a traditional property like this, getting the proportions right is important. The new joinery needed to work with the existing brick arch and stonework, rather than looking like a standard door had simply been fitted into the opening.
By making everything from scratch, we were able to create the complete entrance as one design.
Choosing iroko
Iroko is a popular hardwood for external doors and frames. It is naturally durable and well suited to the UK’s changing weather conditions.
It also has a substantial, high-quality appearance that works particularly well on traditional properties.
For this project, the iroko provided the perfect material for creating a strong and long-lasting entrance.
Bespoke decorative glass
The decorative glass is a major feature of this entrance.
The large arched panel above the door is matched by the two side panels, creating a balanced design across the whole entrance.
The coloured glass and lead detailing add traditional character while allowing natural light into the hallway.
