Investing in a solid timber entrance door is a big upgrade for your home—it changes how your house looks and feels the moment you walk up to it. At LSC Joinery, we know the idea of replacing your front door might sound like a big job, so here’s what actually happens on the day we arrive.
Arrival and Preparation
On the morning of your installation, we’ll arrive with everything we need: your pre-painted timber door, the new frame, and all the tools and fixings. We’ll introduce ourselves, talk you through the plan for the day, and make sure the working area is kept clean and protected.
Removing the Old Door
The first step is carefully removing your old door and frame. We take care to avoid unnecessary mess or damage around the brickwork and plaster. Once the old frame is out, we check the opening to make sure it’s level and solid, ready for the new frame to go in.
Fitting the New Frame and Door
Your new frame is fitted securely into the opening, checked for accuracy, and fixed in place. This is an important stage, because a level and well-secured frame means your door will open and close smoothly for years to come.
Once the frame is set, the pre-painted solid timber door is hung. Hinges, locks, and handles are installed, and we double-check alignment so it opens easily and seals properly against draughts.
Finishing Touches
With the door in place, we add the finishing details—sealing around the frame, fitting any trims, and making sure the locks and handles are working perfectly. We also clean up the work area so all you’re left with is your new entrance door looking right at home.
How Long Does It Take?
From arrival to finish, the whole process usually takes less than a day. By the time we leave, your old door is gone, your new one is fitted, and you’re ready to enjoy a solid timber entrance that looks great and feels secure.
