A traditional shop front gives a building its character. The pillars, corbels, fascia and detailed mouldings all help create a strong first impression. When these parts become rotten or damaged, they need replacing properly.

At LSC Joinery & Manufacturing, we replace decorative shop frontages with accurate, like-for-like timber matches. The aim is simple. When the new work is finished, it should look as though it has always been there.

Checking the Existing Frontage

Every project starts with a full inspection. Over time, timber shop fronts can suffer from rot, water damage and general wear. Often, the damage is worse than it first appears.

We carefully examine the pillars, corbels, fascia boards and any detailed mouldings. Measurements are taken and templates are made from the original sections wherever possible. This helps us copy the exact design.

If parts are too far gone to copy directly, we recreate them using remaining details to match the original style as closely as possible.

Making the Replacement Components

All new parts are made in our workshop using quality timber suitable for external use.

This can include:

Timber pillars made to the correct size and proportions

Handcrafted corbels to match the original shape

•Replacement fascia boards with matching moulded detail

•Custom trims and decorative mouldings

•If needed, we machine special cutters so the new mouldings match the original profile exactly.

•Keeping the Original Look but Improving Strength

While we keep the same appearance, we also make sure the new frontage is built to last. We use proper joinery methods and materials designed for external use to improve durability.

Any structural improvements are carried out carefully so the outside look remains unchanged.

Careful Installation On Site

Old, damaged sections are removed with care to avoid affecting the rest of the building. The new timber components are then fitted accurately to ensure clean lines and a neat finish.

Once installed, the frontage is prepared ready for painting or full decoration.

Why a Like-for-Like Replacement Matters

For period buildings and traditional high street shops, keeping the original design is important. It protects the character of the property and keeps the street looking consistent.

A poor match can stand out for the wrong reasons. A well-made timber replacement blends in seamlessly and restores the shop front properly.

If your decorative shop frontage needs replacing, LSC Joinery & Manufacturing can provide a full like-for-like timber replacement service, from survey through to installation.
